11 Best Indian Restaurants In Uluwatu Serving Authentic Indian Cuisine

Ragged cliffs of Uluwatu and turquoise waves are home to the best surf breaks, but this is not all it is that Uluwatu offers to tourists.

The amazing dining scene stretched from Indonesian and Mediterranean to comforting Indian food. Authentic flavours here are supervised by chefs and families from India, and strict reviewers, as Bali is one of the top destinations for Indian tourists.

This means, if you’re craving some real curry, something like lamb kofta, or famous butter chicken with a side of rice, you will find plenty of options in Uluwatu and around.

Here are 11 of our trusted restaurants to order Indian food that is as close as it gets to Indian home-style cooking.

Summary: Our Favourite Indian Restaurants In Uluwatu

  • The best Indian restaurant in Uluwatu is Annapurna. Their menu is big, diverse, and it is our go-to spot for good food close to Bingin and Uluwatu beach. They have the best Thali to share with a family or group of friends.
  • The best butter chicken in Uluwatu is at Bazaar Indian Restaurant.
  • Great vegan-friendly Indian restaurant in Uluwatu is Krishna’s. Delicious food, cool vibes, central location. However, all Indian restaurants in Uluwatu have a few vegan and vegetarian options.
  • For Jain food, Chaskaa Modern Indian Cuisine & Bar in Jimbaran is your best bet. This place is well-known for the next-level hospitality, too.

We have to say that our favourite Indian restaurant in Bali, in general, is not in Ulwuatu, but in Canggu – Monsoon does incredibly flavourful and authentic tasting Indian food alongside other world-famous cuisines and innovative cocktails.

We haven’t had much luck finding a Sri Lankan or coastal Indian restaurant in Uluwatu (but there is one in Ubud called Galle Club).

Must-Visit Indian Restaurants In Uluwatu & Around

Annapurna Uluwatu

By far, the best Indian food close to the Uluwatu Beach is cooked and served at Annapurna.

It is a simple yet cozy Indian restaurant on the side of the road, but the food will thrill your taste buds. Think creamy curries with cashew, comforting Aloo Bartha, tandoori chicken with aromatic spices, and authentic Indian mutton biryani.

They try to accommodate everyone, so they have a decent kids’ menu with Indian dishes, gluten-free options, and vegan-friendly plates. For groups of 4-5 people, they have special Thali plates with an abundance of staple Indian food.

If coming for dinner, make sure to try their signature cocktails and shisha. Arrive early to get the orders in before crowds come to dine in. It isn’t a place for a date; it gets quite busy and noisy being so close to the road.

Insider tip: go here to have dinner after visiting Uluwatu temple and the Kecak Fire dance show. The restaurant is just a few minutes down the road from the temple.

Bazaar Indian Restaurant

A simple restaurant with semi-outdoor seating and an inviting atmosphere. Bazaar makes outstanding cheese naan, palak paneer, and classic butter chicken.

This spot is just a 10-minute ride from Dreamland beach, so it will be amazing for an after-sunset meal.

The menu has lots of yummy appetisers and finger foods, Ayurveda-based Thali, thin and crispy dosa perfectly complemented with condiments, mains (including a few Tandoori dishes), and Indian desserts.

If you are looking for Indian home cooking, food at Bazaar may feel a bit too mild (ask for extra spicy!), but flavours, portion size, textures, and fresh ingredients are on point. If you can, ask for mint and coriander chutney – so good!

For dinner, they also offer a happy hour for beers, but their bespoke cocktails, wine, and fresh juices are delicious, too!

Krishna’s Kitchen

At Krishna’s, you are not getting just a meal, but a whole dining experience introducing you to authentic Indian cuisine with a healthier twist.

They have the best vegan Thali platters, all gluten-free, too, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes. Some dishes can be easily adapted to be non-spicy if you ask the staff.

Krishna’s Kitchen has one of the best masala chai in Uluwatu; we agree with all the raving reviews; it is delicious.

You’ll find other Indian classics on the menu, too, non-vegetarian, like tandoori chicken tikka, delicious curries with chicken, prawn, or paneer, and more. Kadai chicken curry is our top pick. Chef can adjust to your tolerable level of heat, if necessary.

This Indian restaurant is located close to the Bingin area in a small spacewith indoor and outdoor seating and a super relaxed vibe.

Jay’s Kitchen

Jay’s Kitchen in Ungasan is a chill local spot with big portions of Indian food and reasonable prices. It is just 20 minutes from Uluwatu beach and next door from Bazaar restaurant, but so underrated!

Don’t get discouraged by the simple outdoor seating – the food delivers.

The menu is massive: tandoori dishes, Thali platters from North or South India, flavour-packed biryani rice, dishes with lamb, fish, chicken, or vegetarian options.

Their major advantage is the pricing: Ja’s Kitchen is probably the cheapest Indian restaurant in Uluwatu, where you can order a main dish (even with lamb!) for 10 AUD and the whole Thali set for about 12 AUD.

Besides Indian cuisine, there is something for everyone on the menu, from little ones wanting a chicken nugget to Western-style breakfasts, pizza and Chinese ideas.

Supreme Indian Restaurant & Bar

Supreme is a classy-looking restaurant, 25 minutes from Uluwatu Beach, serving authentic Indian cuisine with a big focus on vegetarian meals and some Western staples.

The menu goes from vegetarian Northern and Southern bites to Punjabi curries, Chinese-inspired noodle dishes, and jeera rice to the iconic Gulab Jamun dessert. Their chai is second best after Krishna’s Kitchen.

Despite this restaurant having such a central location (next to GWK and right on the main street), it is heavily underrated! You get delicious, authentic cooking and great value for money.

Live jazz nights create a perfect setting for a romantic night out when you crave Indian. They also have fully indoor seating with ACs, which is a must on hot sunny days in Ulu.

Ganesha Ek Sanskriti

This Indian restaurant is not to miss when you’re visiting the GWK Park, and it is a great stop (with AC) after climbing the statue to snap a few photos and get the best panoramic views of the island.

You will find anything from creamy lassi and crispy samosas to mutton rogan josh here. For us, must-try dishes at Ganesha Ek Sanskriti are chhole bhature with puffy bread and paneer kulcha.

They also have more branches: at the international airport (both departures and arrivals), in Sanur, at Lippo Mall in Kuta, and in Ubud. And to be fair, Ganesha is the largest chain of Indian restaurants in SEA under the wing of a professional dietitian from India.

If you’re visiting Bali during the holidays, make sure to check their special multicourse menu offers with Bollywood-inspired shows.

Indian Tandoor, Jimbaran

The flavours at this restaurant in Jimbaran are so close to Indian home cooking, they pay tribute to the best classics, and you will feel transported somewhere in Mumbai or a small Indian town with every bite.

Teir Malai kofta, Chicken Vindaloo, and warm naans made in Tandoor are super delicious. Meat lovers and vegetarians will be both happy with the choice of meals here.

Although this restaurant is a bit outside of Uluwatu (30 minutes), it is worth a stop if you’re going on a trip, and it is very close to the beach!

Chaskaa Modern Indian Cuisine & Bar, Jimbaran

Minutes away from GWK Park and close to Jimbaran Sidewalk mall, Chaskaa offers a modern perspective on Indian classics.

It is an upscale Indian restaurant near Uluwatu with an elegant ambience and a carefully crafted food and drinks menu. If you follow the Jain diet, simply alert the staff, and the kitchen will be able to make changes.

We absolutely loved Gobi Manchurian, Chicken Malai Tikka, Pan Puri shots, and masala dosa at Chaskaa. They crafted cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks that pair really well with all the food, too.

Don’t want to leave your villa? Order delivery through Grab or GoJek. Besides their location in Jimbaran, they also have restaurants in Seminyak, Kuta, and Ubud.

UTSAV Indian & Western

Image source: UTSAV Indian & Western Google Business

One of the best indian food restaurants in Uluwatu, UTSAV occupies a century-old Javanese jogglo pavillion and keeps traditional dishes on the menu with one simple twist: all food is halal.

Mains come in both meaty and vegetarian options, and the prices are around 130,000 IDR for a plate (13 AUD). We loved dal makhni, butter chicken, and paneer makhni, with a side of garlic naan bread, of course.

You’ll see a low rating on Google Maps, but rest assured, it has nothing to do with how amazing the food is. It seems like the staff had some run-ins with delivery drivers, and a group of people decided to give the restaurant a one-star rating without trying the food there.

Besides India-inspired food, UTSAV also cook Chinese, Indonesian, and Western food (pizza and grilled dishes) so the menu can satisfy a large group of friends with different preferences.

They make really good biryani rice dishes and paneer butter masala. For chai lovers, you will be happy with warm drinks at this restaurant: perfectly spiced and balanced flavour.

While this restaurant is 30-35 minutes away from Bingin or Uluwatu, it is a great stop if you’re going to the airport, Jimbaran, Kuta, or simply craving some really good cheese naan.

Plus, if you are celebrating something special or having a night out, they can set up a candlelit dinner for you!

New Bangle Restaurant Indian Cuisine, Nusa Dua

Image source: New Bangle Restaurant Indian Cuisine Google Business

A lesser-known Indian cuisine restaurant around the Bukit Peninsula, New Bangle is a chic spot for a nice lunch or dinner with a dance show (8 PM every night).

The menu features the rich heritage of both North and South Indian cuisine. Our top picks are, for sure, veg pakora, butter chicken, paneer tikka, and fish curry.

For being a restaurant within a hotel, New Bangle has very reasonable prices! For drinks, they have lots of non-alcoholic beverages, some cocktails and wines, but no hard liquor or premium spirits.
